Justin Jenkins Military Scholarship

The Justin Jenkins Military Scholarship is funded by Hunter Communications in memory of Hunter employee, Justin Jenkins, who passed away on December 29, 2022. 

Affectionately known as JJ to those who knew and loved him, he was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and worked as an apprentice in Hunter’s Electrical Division.

JJ lived Hunter’s values each and every day and his loss was deeply felt by all who knew him.  This scholarship stands as a tribute to his unwavering spirit of generosity, service, and love.

Hunter Communications is funding three $2,500 Military Appreciation Scholarships to Veterans and active military personnel in counties we provide service*.  Applicants must be currently enrolled or enroll within the next year in a 2 or 4 year college or university, trade school, flight school, apprenticeship, etc.  Hunter is accepting applications from February 15, 2023 through March 31, 2023 at 11:59PM PST.  Please direct any questions to scholarship@hunterfiber.com.

To apply for the scholarship, Veterans or active military personnel can fill out the form below and submit an essay of 500 words or less OR submit a video of 5 minutes or less detailing how they have exhibited one, some, or all of Hunter’s values below:

      *Rules: Eligible applicants must 1) have a home address located in Lane, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, Yamhill, Benton, Clackamas, Linn, Marion, Polk, or Washington County, 2) be active military or Veteran and must show proof of ID via Department of Defense Identification Card, Veteran Health Identification Card, Veteran ID Card, or Veterans designation on a state-issued driver’s license or ID, 3) proof of current enrollment or future enrollment within a year in 2 year college, 4 year college or university, trade school, flight school, or apprenticeship, etc.  Winners will be selected by a panel of Hunter employees on how well they exemplify Hunter Communications values.  No purchase necessary to win. Purchases and multiple entries will not improve chances of winning.  Only open to legal residents of Oregon who are at least 18 years of age. Hunter employees and their immediate family are not eligible to win. Void where prohibited.  All submissions must be received by March 31, 2023 at 11:59pm PST. Hunter will evaluate the submissions and determine three scholarship recipients by April 30th, 2023.  The winners will each receive $2,500 upon enrollment.  If a winner cannot be contacted or fails to claim the scholarship within 1 month of notification, alternate winners will be selected.
