Medford, Ore. (February 15, 2023)

Hunter Communications, a provider of fiber optic broadband internet, fixed wireless services, voice services, and managed IT to business and residential customers throughout Oregon and northern California, has announced it is funding three $2,500 Military Appreciation Scholarships for Veterans and active military personnel in counties it serves.  Applicants must be currently enrolled or enroll within the next year in a two- or four-year college or university, trade school, flight school, apprenticeship, or similar program.  Hunter is accepting applications beginning February 15 through March 31, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. PST.

The Justin Jenkins Military Scholarship is funded by Hunter in memory of employee Justin Jenkins, who passed away December 29, 2022. Affectionately known as JJ to those who knew and loved him, he was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and worked as an apprentice in Hunter’s Electrical Division. As stated in the program dedication, “JJ lived Hunter’s values each and every day and his loss was deeply felt by all who knew him. This scholarship stands as a tribute to his unwavering spirit of generosity, service, and love.”

To apply for the scholarship, Veterans or active military personnel are asked to complete an online form and submit an essay of up to 500 words OR submit a video up to five minutes in length detailing how they have exhibited one, some, or all of Hunter’s company values. Interested applicants can visit details.

In thanks to their service to our country, Hunter also extends a Military Appreciation Offer that saves households of Veterans and active military personnel up to $30 per month for 1 Gbps upload and 1 Gbps download internet service. For more information visit
